Meredith Lindemon, Condé Nast Traveler, 20 July 2023 Because of their clean habitat and bright, translucent white skin with bright pink eyes, the caviar is a pearl white color, having a creamy and distinct nutty taste of butter and brine. 2023 The product is translucent and slightly milky in consistency. 2023 In some cases, the silk is translucent, revealing the developing wasps within. Haben Kelati, Washington Post, 27 July 2023 To celebrate the occasion, the pop star - who formally launched her pop career with the record and became one of the genre’s most formidable forces following its arrival in 2008 - released a translucent blue anniversary version of the album, available now for purchase on her web store.

2023 Each summer, the National Building Museum fills its vast and imposing Great Hall with a temporary exhibition, such as a ball pit full of translucent orbs or a labyrinth with 18-foot-high walls.

Bill Addison, Los Angeles Times, 5 Aug. 2023 After the dal, my other current menu favorite is trout wrapped in grape leaves and cooked just until translucent and silken, set over herbed rice and dilled yogurt … and with a clever appearance of sweet-sour green plum for the seasonal nod. 2023 Allow to cook, over low heat, until the shallots and garlic become tender and translucent, 5-7 minutes. A common visual code to indicate opacity or transparency is the use of small circles on paint labels and charts, with the circle filled in for opaque, open for transparent, and filled in half-way for semi-opaque/semi-transparent. Most paint makers indicate on the tube some measure of opacity along with series and color index codes. This interaction is important to consider on your palette since a transparent pigment, even if it seems very strong and dark (like phthalo green, for example) will be dramatically altered by adding even small amounts of an opaque pigment such as titanium white. When paints consist of a mixture of pigments, opaque pigments will usually override transparent ones and the mixture will be opaque. The term semi-transparent describes paints that show a balance of opacity and transparency. Most paints fall somewhere between completely opaque and completely transparent. Paints are rarely perfectly opaque or transparent. Learning about and observing the opacity or transparency of paints enables artists to have greater command over techniques like glazing, layering, optical color mixing, or avoiding pentimento, a bothersome effect where paint becomes more transparent as it dries, revealing what’s underneath. Transparent (or translucent) paints allow more light to pass through them.

Opaque paints are more reflective (not to be confused with “shiny”). The opacity, or hiding strength, of a paint describes how it interacts with light.
